The Moon Appears...
... When the Water is Still
My project focusses on the Dhamma Dipa Vipassana meditation centre in Herefordshire, the only full-time Vipassana meditation centre in the UK, which is owned and managed by Vipassana Trust (a registered educational charity).
With these images I have attempted to portray the quiet, tranquil and contemplative space and atmosphere of the centre as well as the routine and thorough organisation of the courses. The work also suggests the first steps on the personal journey on the path to enlightenment which are taken by the student when they sit a course. The images also allude to the obstacles which may be encountered on the path (which although seemingly impassable at first, can be more easily dealt with with a clear mind), the heightened sense of awareness which comes with meditation, and the idea that with these steps there has already been progress on what is a life-long journey.
